Tarji-Band
a stanzaic form used in the lyric or panegyric poetry of the Near and Middle East and of Middle and South Asia. In the tarji-band, each stanza, consisting of a certain number of bayts (couplets), is constructed according to the rhyme scheme of the ghazal (aa, ba, ca, da, ...), but ends in a connecting bayt (bayti wasila) or in a tarji-band with its own paired rhyme. This bayt is repeated at the end of each stanza and must be related in meaning to the stanza. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
