Tarkwa 

a city in southern Ghana, in the Western Region. Railroad junction. Population, 11,000 (1970). Rubber tires are manufactured near Tarkwa. Gold, manganese ore, and diamonds are mined in the area.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said claimed the overnight attack on an oil tanker wharf at Atlas Cove, in Lagos' Tarkwa Bay, some 630 kilometres north their bases in the southern oil hub.
Although African unity is still a distant dream, sub-regional groupings are strengthening in the continent, like the grouping of French-speaking countries, according to Tarkwa who was educated in the UK and came to Abu Dhabi seven months ago.
Born on 21 July 1944 at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana, Mills in fact hails from Ekumfi Otuam in the Central Region.
