Tavriia

 

(Tavrida), a name for the Crimean Peninsula that became common in the 16th century. In the 19th and early 20th centuries the name was used not only for the Crimea but also for the adjoining regions of Tavrida Guberniia (Province), or Severnaia Tavrida.
