Tawas Point State Park

Location: In Iosco County, 2.5 miles southeast of East Tawas off US 23.
Facilities: 193 modern campsites, 2 mini-cabins, picnic area and shelter (é), playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball area, swimming beach, beach house (é), hiking trail, historic site.
Activities: Camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, bird watching, interpretive programs.
Special Features: Park is situated on the peninsula separating Tawas Bay from Lake Huron. It is a stopover point for hundreds of species of migratory birds, making it a favorite spot for bird watchers from all over the Midwest. The Tawas Point Lighthouse, built in 1876, is located at the park, with a museum store that's open May-October. The lighthouse is open for tours on week-ends Memorial Day through Labor Day, and the walk to the top of the tower offers a spectacular view of the bay.
