Taylor, Robert Love (1850–1912) U.S. representative/senator, governor; born in Carter County, Tenn. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., Tenn.; 1879–81), governor of Tennessee (1887–91, 1897–99), and to the U.S. Senate (1907–12), he won fame and fortune as a popular speaker.
