Tazovskii

(until 1949, Khal’mer-Sede), an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Tazovskii Raion, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (formerly Yamal-Nenets National Okrug), Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR. Tazovskii is a landing on the Taz River 12 km from the river’s influx into Taz Bay. Natural gas is extracted in the area. The settlement has a fish-packing plant and a fur-farming and deer-raising sovkhoz.
