Roller, Tea-Leaf
a machine used in tea manufacture for rolling the tea leaves. The primary parts of the roller are a table with a pyramidal depression (cuvette), over which is placed a bottomless cylinder (receiver). The leaves are fed into the cylinder. The table or cylinder (in single-action machines) or the two parts together (in double-action machines) rotate in opposite directions, rolling and crushing the leaves and squeezing out the juice. There may or may not be a press inside the cylinder for pressing the leaf to the table. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
