Techint Group, which controls steelmakers Ternium SA and Tenaris SA, has had mills seized by Chavez.
Bidders include the US' CB and I Lummus, Italy's Snamprogetti and Techint, Spain's TR, the UK's Petrofac, South Korea's GS Engineering and Construction, SK Engineering and Construction and Daelim Industrial Company, Egypt's Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (Enppi), Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and Taiwan-based CTCI.
The pipeline was built by Spies Capag of France, Techint of Argentina and the British-Lebanese venture Zakhem under a contract awarded in 1991.
