Monahan BOSTON - Cities and towns across the state could begin levying an estimated $78 million a year in property taxes on Verizon and other telecom companies for the value of telephone poles and wires previously considered exempt from local property taxes under a new ruling by the state Appellate Tax Board.
The exhibit is small and focused (and sits next to another small and focused exhibit, 'Yes Yes Y'all" on the birth of hip-hop, that is killer and even somewhat complementary in a DIY-kind-of-way) but says a lot, especially to someone like myself who grew up seeing those flyers stapled to telephone poles and taped to record store windows.
I don't mind stepping on shadows when they're of familiar things like telephone poles and fences and gliding airplane wings.
