Late last month, Alltel finally got the go-ahead on the sale of Telering, an Austrian wireless company that was another Western Wireless subsidiary, for $1.
It has created a national mPayment standard in Germany with Vodafone and o2, and in Austria with A1 Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and Telering.
6 billion deal will put Telering under T-Mobile Austria, owned by Deutsche Telekom, Europe's largest integrated phone carrier.
