Teligent

    0.01 sec.
Teligent
(Teligent, Inc., Herndon, VA, www.teligent.com) A telecommunications company founded in 1996 to provide fixed wireless services for the "last mile." Its SmartWave service used digital microwave technology to transmit voice and data to businesses in more than 40 markets across the country as well as around the world via international partnerships.

Teligent filed for Chapter 11 in 2001 but emerged a year later, reorganized and debt free. In early 2005, First Avenue Networks, Inc., Charlottesville, VA, acquired the company, specifically for its 24 GHz spectrum licenses, fixed wireless broadband operations and radio assets. It changed hands once again in 2006 when Startec Global Communications bought the Teligent group from First Avenue, which itself merged with FiberTower that year. See also Taligent.
