Teramo

Teramo (tĕ`rämō), city (1991 pop. 51,756), capital of Teramo prov., Abruzzi, central Italy. It is an agricultural and growing industrial center, with an increasingly diversified manufacturing base. Of pre-Roman origin, Teramo was included in the medieval duchy of Spoleto and, from 1814 to 1860, in the kingdom of Naples. Of note is the Romanesque cathedral (restored in the 14th cent.).

Part of the samples were frozen and sent for additional investigations to the Italian National Center for Exotic Diseases (Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale Abruzzo e Molise, Teramo, Italy), the French National Reference Center for Arboviruses and Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers of the Pasteur Institute (Paris, France), and the International Reference Center for Borna Disease (Giessen University, Germany).
