Voloskov, Terentii Ivanovich 

Born 1729; died 1806. Russian inventor.

Voloskov lived and worked in Rzhev. He invented several complicated systems of automatic clocks. He constructed a large clock that showed not only the minutes and hours but also the days, various holidays, the phases of the moon, the passage of the sun through the signs of the zodiac, leap years, and other things. He also manufactured optical astronomical equipment. Voloskov made a valuable contribution to the national production of paints. He organized the manufacture and sale of paints (carmine and ceruse) that were highly valued by the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.
