Terman, Lewis

Terman, Lewis (Madison) (1877–1956) educational psychologist; born in Johnson County, Ind. This Stanford University professor (1910–42) coined the term "I.Q.," developed intelligence tests for the army during World War I, and published the widely used Stanford-Binet intelligence test in The Measurement of Intelligence (1916). The last volume of Terman's classic 30-year study of gifted children was published in 1959.
