(communications)terminal emulator - A program that allows a computer to act like a (particular brand of) terminal, e.g. a vt-100. The computer thus appears as a terminal to the host computer and accepts the same escape sequences for functions such as cursor positioning and clearing the screen.

xterm is a terminal emulator for the X Window System.

The Lightweight Multi-band Satellite Terminal Program provides tri-band super high frequency terminals and will provide smaller, lighter, modular, more flexible terminals to meet the theater deployable communications requirement to provide initial long haul communications for bare-base deployment and augment communications as deployment matures.
This system consists of a Commodore C-64C computer (as the central processing unit, CPU), an Excelerator Plus Disk Drive (a device used to store and retrieve information), a small black and white television to act as a monitor, a Commodore 1660 (an inexpensive modem for the Commodore 64), a free terminal program (software necessary to link the computer and the modem for telecommunications), and an available telephone line.
Beginners can observe the robot's behavior in one of ten demonstration modes, or they can program the robot directly by downloading short scripts with any basic terminal program.
