During the last 25 years, the producer and musicologist has stage-managed imaginative tributes to Kurt Weill, Italian film composer Nino Rota, jazz greats Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk, even Edgar Allan Poe.
A used but widely available recording of Thelonious Monk may go for as little as $10, while the psychedelic soundtrack of the 1960s cult classic movie "Barbarella," starring Jane Fonda as a space nymph, might go for $30 to $50.
When bebop came along, Williams was one of the few older jazz musicians to embrace that art form, and she befriended Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk among others.
