(redirected from Thermal compound)

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.03 sec.

thermal grease

A conductive substance that is used to transfer heat from one device to another. For example, when a heat sink is attached to a chip, there is a huge number of microscopic gaps between the two surfaces. The thermal grease helps bond the two surfaces and transfer the heat more effectively. See heat sink.
