subdomain

A lower-level component of a domain name. For example, www.mycompany.com and support.mycompany.com are subdomains of mycompany.com, which is known as a "second level domain." See zone and root domain.

Although other registries have proposed a similar technique in the past, the iDomain concept is unique in that it allows users to concurrently use both the second and third level domain names.
While dynamic DNS has been around for some time, most services that provide it only do so via third level domain names, like 'yourname.
