In 1798 economist Thomas Malthus pointed out the dangers a rising population posed but the chattering classes still can't or won't see it.
Throughout, he connects the development of individualist ideas, including those of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Thomas Malthus, Herbert Spencer, Friedrich Hayek, and Milton Friedman, with the needs and consequences of capital accumulation and explores the complex relationship between theories, moral precepts, arguments, and policy agendas.
Concerns about the consequences of a rapidly growing world population and finite resources first came to prominence with the publication of An Essay on the Principle of Population by Thomas Malthus in 1798.
