Thomson, Alexander

(1817–1875)
Scottish Neoclassical architect; an original designer influenced by Schinkel. He worked mostly in Glasgow. His buildings drew on a variety of sources, including ancient Egyptian, Persian, and Indian architecture.

This fine 2012 recording is based on a concert performance featuring Carla Huhtanen, Krisztina Szabo, Graham Thomson, Alexander Dobson and Geoffrey Sirett in the five principal roles and captures very well the dynamics of a piece that proved a compelling theatre piece in its 2014 Tim Albery production for Soundstreams Canada.
The best man was Nick Humble and groomsmen were James Secker, bride's brother, David Irwin, groom's brother, Mark Thomson, Alexander Grayson and Oliver Grayson, the bride's godson.
