throughput

The speed with which a computer processes data. It is a combination of internal processing speed, peripheral speeds (I/O) and the efficiency of the operating system and other system software all working together.

A measure of the effective rate of transmission of data by a communications system.

The quantity of ore or other material passed through a mill or a section of a mill in a given time or at a given rate.
1.throughput - The rate at which a processor can work expressed in instructions per second or jobs per hour or some other unit of performance.
2.(communications)throughput - data transfer rate.
