Born from the ashes of short-lived thrash metal trio Hellhammer and influenced by Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost was the only group with the balls to switch from a melodic rock song to an ambient soundscape to a thrash piece to a delicate string piece with female vocals on the same album. Dunn and co-writers/directors Scot McFadyen and Jessica Joy Wise lay out the history of metal and delve into its many sub-genres, including power and thrash metal, the 1980s L. The band combined this art rock approach with its roots in mod (Green played in Nation of Ulysses) and thrash metal (Soete played in a sludge metal band called Lice) to develop this signature Thin Lizzy-meets-muzak approach. |
