(Truth), a republic-level Lithuanian-language newspaper published in the Lithuanian SSR. One of the oldest Bolshevik newspapers, Tiesa was founded in Petrograd on Mar. 30 (Apr. 12), 1917. After the establishment of Soviet power in Lithuania in 1919, the newspaper was published in Vilnius; during the period of bourgeois dictatorship it was an underground publication. Since August 1944, Tiesa has been published in Vilnius six times a week. It was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1967. Circulation, 260,000 (1975).
