Timmins

Timmins, town (1991 pop. 47,461), central Ont., Canada, on the Mattagami River. Timmins is the commercial center of the rich Porcupine gold-mining district, where gold was first discovered in 1909. Silver, copper, lead, and zinc are also mined. The town has breweries, pulp, paper, and lumber mills, and a cold-weather automotive testing center.

With a mineral resource estimate having recently been completed for its 395-hectare Timmins West Gold property, Lake Shore is looking to submit an underground exploration permit in the first quarter of 2007.
This area is host to all present and past gold producers of the Timmins mining camp, which has produced in excess of 70 million ounces of Gold since being discovered.
West Timmins Mining is reporting gold mineralization on several of their properties in the Timmins Gold Camp.
