Tinker, Grant (1926– ) television producer; born in Stamford, Conn. After working in advertising, he was a National Broadcasting Company (NBC) programmer (1961–67), moving to Universal Studios to be near his then wife, Mary Tyler Moore. They formed MTM productions in the 1970s, producing other comedy shows as well. As NBC chairman (1981–86), he pulled the network from last to first place.
