Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park Location: From Little Rock, take Exit 7 off I-440 and go 10 miles southeast on US 165, then 1/4 mile south on AR 386. Facilities: Interpretive trails; visitor center with exhibits, an AV theater, archeological research laboratory, and meeting room; restrooms and picnic areas (é). Activities: Hiking, guided archeological tours, interpretive programs. Special Features: This archeological park preserves and interprets Arkansas' tallest Indian mounds, the remains of a large ceremonial and governmental complex that was inhabited from AD 600 to 1050. The site (a National Historic Landmark) is managed by Arkansas State Parks and the Arkansas Archeological Survey.
