any of three amino derivatives of toluene.

Ortho, meta, and para isomers of toluidines are known (see Table 1). Toluidines are readily soluble in organic solvents but poorly soluble in water; they may be steam-distilled, and they darken (oxidize) upon storage in light in the presence of air.

Toluidines are obtained industrially by the reduction of nitro-toluenes using iron and hydrochloric acid. They are similar to aniline in their chemical properties. They form salts with acids and

The cell walls reacted positively to the PAS and Toluidine Blue, showing the degradation of the wall, from a defined, rigid structure in the first days of germination (t0 to t6, Figures 3a-d and 4a-d, respectively) to a flaccid one, causing a loss in structure integrity, observed in the late periods of germination (t8 to t10, Figures 3e-f and 4e-f, respectively).
However, because Doe (1976) noted that the hook supports contain glandular tissue, which may also stain with toluidine blue/basic fuchsin, we examined the putative tensile connective tissue elements with transmission electron microscopy for electron-dense extracellular matrix (Fig.
