Tomlinson, Henry Major

Tomlinson, Henry Major, 1873–1958, English novelist. A dock worker, then a journalist and war correspondent, he was (1917–23) literary editor of the Nation and Athenaeum. Probably his best-known novel is the sea story Gallions Reach (1927). Others include Pipe All Hands (1937) and Morning Light (1946). All Our Yesterdays (1930) is a semifictional history of World War I. Among his travelogues are The Sea and the Jungle (1912), South to Cadiz (1934), and Below London Bridge (1935).
