topographic map(Data West Research Agency definition: see GIS glossary.) A map depicting terrain relief showing ground elevation, usually through either contour lines or spot elevations. The map represents the horizontal and vertical positions of the features represented. | Digital maps were created on the basis of transforming the contents of the analogue topographic maps into a digital form. The Ambios Xi-100 IFM uses white light interference to generate a three-dimensional topographic map of the razor cut rubber surface (figure 1). Photos, drawings, and a fold-out topographic map provide plenty of visual illustration and examples of the details and make for an invaluable instructional reference both in the field and for at-home study. |
