Amidst growing fears that General Motors, the world's largest car manufacturer, will go bust, Toyota Motor Company is rapidly expanding and on course to surpass GM in production this year. Overall, Toyota Motor Company comes away with a total of 11 awards, the most of any auto manufacturer. The importance of standardization--both in procedures and in design--was also stressed by presenter Laurie Harbour-Felax, president of Harbour-Felax Group, noting a Toyota Motor Company example where by simply standardizing on commodity components, the company has saved $1000/vehicle. |
