TrackBackA cross referencing system between blogs that was introduced in the Movable Type blogging software in 2002. When you make a comment on your blog about a subject posted on another blog, TrackBack is used to enable that blog to link back to your comment on your blog. It also allows a title and excerpt of the comment to be included with the link. How to thank TFD for its existence? One is to look at the blog rank--the rank determined by Technorati that looks at the number of links and trackbacks and calculates your "authority measure. Our new platform includes tagging, comments, trackbacks, and topic-oriented newsfeeds, allowing us to collaborate more dynamically, and combined with our series of conferences and webinars, to do so all year round. Unlike blogs, where authors and readers "converse" via comments and TrackBacks (a protocol for communicating between blogs), podcasting gives the audience a true voice. |
