    0.03 sec.
Tredyakovsky, Vasily Kirilovich (vəsē`lyē kĭrē`ləvĭch trĕdyəkôf`skē), 1703–69, Russian poet, translator, and scholar. Tredyakovsky rose from humble origins to membership in the Academy of Sciences and a position as court poet, only to die in poverty and obscurity. He is remembered chiefly for his treatise A Brief New Method of Composing Russian Verse (1735), with which he began a reform of Russian prosody. His own verse is uneven.
