Triboelectric Product Inspection
a method of flaw detection based on the determination of the electromotive force (emf) that arises when there is friction between materials of different natures. By measuring the emf for a standard and for the product being tested, it is possible to determine the grade of material of which the product is made, that is, the difference between the chemical compositions of the standard and the product. Triboelectric product inspection can be used, for example, to sort rolled metal products. The method is not widely used. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
