On the southern border of KY, west of Hopkinsville; organized Jan 27, 1820 from Christian and Caldwell counties. Name Origin: For Col. Stephen Trigg (?-1782), an officer killed in action against Indians at Blue Licks.

Pop 2005: 13,349. State rank: 87. Pop change: 2000-20005 6.00%; 1990-2000 21.60%. Pop 2000: 12,597 (White 87.70%; Black or African American 9.80%; Hispanic or Latino 0.90%; Asian 0.30%; Other 1.60%). Foreign born: 0.80%. Median age: 40.50.
