trigger finger [′trig·ər ‚fiŋ·gər] (medicine) A symptom of tenosynovitis manifested as a temporary partial obstruction in flexion or extension of a finger that is followed by a snapping into the final position; results from a thickening of a tendon or localized reduction in the tendon sheath. Also known as snapping finger.
