In east-central TX, southwest of Lufkin; organized Feb 11, 1850 from Houston County. Name Origin: For the Trinity River, which forms its southern border; itself probably named for the feast of the Holy Trinity.

Area (sq mi): 714.00 (land 692.84; water 21.16). Pop per sq mi: 20.70.
Pop 2005: 14,363. State rank: 141. Pop change: 2000-20005 4.20%; 1990-2000 20.40%. Pop 2000: 13,779 (White 81.90%; Black or African American 11.90%; Hispanic or Latino 4.80%; Asian 0.20%; Other 4.10%). Foreign born: 2.70%. Median age: 43.30.
Income 2000: per capita $15,472; median household $27,070; Pop below poverty level: 17.60%. *Personal per capita income 2000-2003: $18,721-$20,538.

In NW CA, west of Redding; original county; organized Feb 18, 1850 (prior to statehood). Name Origin: For the Trinity River, named by Pierson B. Reading in 1845, who believed it entered Trinidad Bay. (Trinity is the English version of the Spanish Trinidad.)
