Troepol’skaia, Tat’iana Mikhailovna
Date of birth unknown; died 1774. Russian actress. Troepol’skaia began performing in the university theater in Moscow in 1757. In 1762(?) she joined the court theater in St. Petersburg. One of the first Russian actresses, Troepol’skaia “was esteemed by all the experts as an equal of the leading actresses of the century: Lecouvreur, Clairon, Dumesnil” (Otechestvennyezapiski, 1822, no. 32, part 12, p. 388). Her best roles were in the tragedies of A. P. Sumarokov: Il’mena in Sinav and Truvor, the title role in Semira, and Kseniia in The False Demetrius.
