Trofimov, Vasilii Dmitrievich
Born Jan. 7, 1919, in the village of Kostino, Mytishchi Raion, Moscow Oblast. Soviet athlete. Honored Master of Sport (1945); Honored Coach of the USSR (1963). Member of the CPSU since 1963. Trofimov was champion of the USSR in soccer (1940, 1945, 1949), ice hockey (1947), and bandy (1951–52) as a member of the Moscow Dynamo team. Since 1964 he has been coach of the Soviet bandy team, which won the world championship six times in a row between 1964 and 1975. Trofimov has been awarded two orders and various medals.
