True HD

    0.02 sec.

True HD

(1) Typically refers to TV sets with 1080p resolution, but may refer to sets that display only up to 1080i as well. See 1080p and HDTV.

(2) (TrueHD) A digital audio encoding system from Dolby Laboratories for high-definition HD DVD video and optionally for Blu-ray video. Providing up to eight channels of digital audio (at 24-bit/96 kHz), HD DVD players are typically capable of decoding six channels (5.1) of TrueHD.

HDMI 1.3
In order to send TrueHD signals from the player to the TV, the equipment must support HDMI 1.3 connections. However, HD DVD players can convert TrueHD to PCM and send it to older TVs with HDMI 1.1 or higher sockets. See HDMI.
