The Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (or "Common Criteria") is a multinational successor to the previous Department of Defense Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria (TCSEC or "Orange Book" criteria). The XTS has been evaluated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and received a B3 rating (EAL5+ equivalent) in accordance with NSA's Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria (TCSEC), which is the highest rating within the TCSEC category and second highest federal security level. Common Criteria's inputs and evolution came out of the USA's Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria (TCSEC), also referred to as the "Orange Book", Europe's Information Technology Security Evaluation Criteria (ITSEC) and the Canadian Trusted Computer Product Evaluation Criteria (CTCPEC). |
