Tryon, Thomas

Tryon, Thomas (1926–  ) actor, writer; born in Hartford, Conn. He studied at Yale (B.A. 1949), and in New York City at the Art Students League and the Neighborhood Playhouse. Using the name of Tom Tryon, he was an actor (1952–71) on Broadway, and television, as well as in Hollywood films. He gave up on acting to become a successful novelist. He wrote compelling horror fiction, as in The Other (1971), and Harvest Home (1973), before writing novels set in Hollywood, such as All That Glitters: Five Novellas (1986). He lived in New York City.
