Tsao-Fan
(literally, rebels), members of young workers’ detachments that were formed shortly after the Red Guards (hung-wei-ping) came into being in 1966 and 1967, at the height of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The tsao-fan performed the same role as the Red Guards and, like the Red Guards, disappeared from the political arena in the late 1960’s. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
