Tsatsos, Constantine 

Born July 1, 1899, in Athens. Greek state and political figure. Member of the Academy of Athens (1961).

Tsatsos graduated from the universities of Athens and Heidelberg. He became an instructor at the University of Athens in 1932 and head of the department of law and philosophy of law in 1945. In 1945 he served as minister of social security, minister of foreign affairs, and minister of the press and information. He was a member of Parliament from 1946 to 1950, from 1963 to 1967, and in 1974 and 1975. Tsatsos served as minister of education in 1949 and 1950, minister to the premier’s office from 1956 to 1961, minister of justice in 1967 (until the military coup d’etat), and minister of culture and science in 1974. In June 1975 he was elected president of Greece. Tsatsos is the author of works on philosophy, sociology, philology, and law.
