Tsemes Bay
(also Novorossiisk Bay), a bay on the Black Sea along the northern coast of the Caucasus. It is 15 km long, 9 km wide at the entrance, and 4.6 km wide in its middle part. It has depths of 21–27 m. The southwestern banks are low; the north eastern banks are elevated and unbroken. The Tsemes River flows into the bay. In the fall and winter a hurricane-force wind, known as the bora, presents a great danger to shipping. The city of Novorossiisk is situated on the bay. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
