Tullahoma (tələhō`mə), city (1990 pop. 16,761), Coffee and Franklin counties, central Tenn.; settled c.1850 as a railroad labor camp, inc. 1903. It is an industrial center in a highland timber and farm area. Manufactures include aircraft equipment, clothing, sporting goods, and stationery. Tullahoma's industrial growth was spurred during World War II by the establishment nearby of Camp Forrest, an infantry training center. After the war the Camp Forrest reservation became the site of the huge Arnold Engineering and Development Center, an aeronautical research and testing installation serving NASA and the U.S. armed forces. The Univ. of Tennessee Space Institute is in the city. How to thank TFD for its existence?
