Usubaliev, Turdakun 

Born Nov. 6, 1919, in the village of Kochkorka, in what is now Naryn Oblast, Kirghiz SSR. Soviet party and state figure. Member of the CPSU since 1941.

The son of a peasant, Usubaliev graduated from the Kirghiz Teachers’ Institute in 1941 and the Higher Party School Under the Central Committee of the ACP(B) in 1945. After fulfilling a course of correspondence study, he graduated from the V. I. Lenin Moscow Pedagogical Institute in 1965. Usubaliev taught in the village of Kochkorka in 1941 and engaged in party work in 1942 and 1943. From 1945 to 1955 he worked in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CPSU. In 1955 and 1956 he edited the republic newspaper Sovettik Kyrgyzstan.

From 1956 to 1958, Usubaliev headed a department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kirghizia, and from 1958 to 1961 he served as secretary of the Frunze city committee. He became first secretary of the Communist Party of Kirghizia in May 1961 and a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU in the same year. He was a deputy to the sixth through tenth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Usubaliev has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
