Turgoiak

Turgoiak 

an urban-type settlement in Cheliabinsk Oblast, RSFSR, under the jurisdiction of the Miass city soviet. Turgoiak is situated on an eastern slope of the Southern Urals near Lake Turgoiak and the Miass River, of the Ob’ basin. It is located 18 km north of the Miass railroad station on the Ufa-Cheliabinsk line. Most of the inhabitants of Turgoiak work at the Urals Automotive Plant in Miass. The Il’men’ Preserve is located east of the settlement.

Turgoiak 

a lake in Cheliabinsk Oblast, RSFSR. Lake Turgoiak covers an area of 27 sq km and measures 6.7 km in length. The average depth is 19 m, and the greatest depth 33.5 m. Lake Turgoiak is located at an elevation of 320 m, at the foot of the Il’men’ Range in the Southern Urals. Variations in the water level amount to approximately 1 m. The lake is a center for tourism. The Il’men’ Preserve is located east of Lake Turgoiak.
