Turia

Tur’ia 

a river in Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR; a right tributary of the Sos’va River of the Ob’ River basin. The Tur’ia is 128 km long and drains an area of 1,160 sq km. It originates in the Northern Urals. It is fed primarily by snow. The mean flow rate 72 km from the mouth is 2.64 cu m per sec. The river freezes in the first half of November and opens up in late April or the first half of May. It is used as an industrial and domestic water source. The Bogoslovsk Reservoir, with an area of 6 sq km and the cities of Karpinsk and Krasnotur’insk are located on the river.


Turia 

(in its upper course, Guadalaviar), a river in eastern Spain. The Turia measures 243 km in length and drains an area of 6,850 sq km. It originates in the spurs of the Serranía de Cuenca. In the upper course it resembles a typical karst river, flowing through deep ravines. It irrigates the Valencia Plain and flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The water level is high in winter. The mean flow rate is approximately 20 cu m per sec. Reservoirs are located on the river. The city of Teruel is located on the Turia, and the seaport of Valencia is located at its mouth.


Tur’ia 

(also Turiia), a river in Volyn’ Oblast, Ukrainian SSR; a right tributary of the Pripiat’ River of the Dnieper River basin. The Tur’ia is 184 km long and drains an area of 2,800 sq km. It originates on the Volyn’ Upland. It is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 20 km from the mouth is 9 cu m per sec. The Tur’ia freezes in November or December and opens up between late February and early April. The city of Kovel’ is situated on the river.
