A sex aberration in humans in which the chromosome complement includes only one sex chromosome, an X.

The discovery holds importance as the binding together of too many or too few of a particular chromosome can cause a number of medical conditions such as Down's Syndrome or Turner's Syndrome.
Other causes of early or premature menopause include chromosomal disorders such as Turner's syndrome and Down's syndrome, autoimmune disorder (when antibodies which work against the ovaries are produced), and chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
