Established: 1983. Description: National lobbying office for state-based public interest research groups (PIRGs) across the country. The 25 state PIRGs are independent, non-profit, non-partisan public interest advocacy organizations. Promotes research, education, and advocacy in public interest areas such as clean water, clean air, consumer protection, privacy rights, and toxins reduction. Dues: $15/year.
